Dr. Marie-Pierre Montminy: Predicting Poultry Nutrient Needs | Ep. 25

Calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) play vital roles in various physiological processes in poultry, including bone and feather growth, muscle contractions, and energy metabolism. Bearing that in mind, it is important to consider that feed type and form, along with the presence of other dietary components, can alter the absorption of P and Ca from the GIT. Thus, predicting the requirements of birds for P and Ca requires considering several factors, including species, age, physiological stage, and feed type. In this episode, Dr. Marie-Pierre Létourneau Montminy shares her expertise in predicting the destination of P and Ca in the GIT and body of birds in order to determine the appropriate requirements.

“We have to be precise about Ca and P requirements as well as about the value of feedstuff”. - Dr. Marie-Pierre Létourneau Montminy
