Andy discusses the rising costs of healthcare, particularly those associated with hospitals. Hospital costs account for 47 cents of every Blue Cross premium dollar, and have risen 250% since 2000, more than triple the rate of inflation. Blue Cross is partnering with hospitals to pay for quality outcomes rather than the volume of services, incentivizing better patient care and accepting financial responsibility when outcomes aren’t met.
