050426 ~ May Skywatch! - Dr. Buddy Stark

May 4, 2026 ~ Lucy Ann Lance is joined by Dr. Buddy Stark, Director, UM Planetarium. They check the sky monthly on 1290 WLBY! Dr. Stark discusses the asteroid Apophis, initially thought to be hazardous in 2029, but now confirmed to pass safely close enough to be visible. He explains that larger, “world-killer” asteroids are accounted for, though smaller ones could still cause regional damage. Stark also touches on a “blue moon” in May, the Aquariid Meteor Shower, the bright presence of Venus, and offers skepticism regarding recent discussions about alien life, suggesting it might be a distraction.
