The Kyle Anzalone Show guest Kelley Vlahos: Does Trump Know the American People Are Done

A citywide Russia Ukraine ceasefire tied to a Melania Trump backchannel sounds absurd on its face, which is exactly why it’s worth taking seriously. We walk through what’s actually being reported, why a humanitarian corridor can still count as a diplomatic breakthrough, and how even “small” agreements test whether Moscow and Kyiv can coordinate anything at all after years of grinding war.

From there, we get into the story that won’t die: did Ukraine lose access to Starlink, Starshield, or neither, and who made the call? We talk about why the distinction matters, how satellite connectivity shapes drone warfare and escalation, and what the conflicting statements reveal about an unsteady US posture. If Washington wants leverage, clarity matters. If Washington is flailing, allies pay the price.

We also dig into the Iran track, including the argument that the memorandum of understanding functioned more like a delay tactic than a real path to peace. We connect that to energy markets, tanker attacks, the Strait of Hormuz, alternative shipping corridors, and the uncomfortable reality that “take the oil” is a slogan, not a strategy. The big question we keep coming back to is simple: if diplomacy loses credibility and oil pressure rises, does the US reach for another round of strikes even though air power can’t bomb a political problem into submission?

We close with the domestic politics angle, including Trump’s “jihadist” smear against a Michigan Senate candidate and what fear based messaging says about the midterm environment.
