Why Are So Many Black People Defending Karmelo Anthony?

Get ready for a SPICYYYY kickoff to your weekend - my friend Xaviaer DuRousseau is in town, and he’s got a lot on his mind. As a resident of Southern California, Xaviaer gives us an update into all things Spencer Pratt, Karen Bass, and Nithya Raman in the Los Angeles mayoral race, and reveals just how corrupt Gavin Newsom’s California has become in 2026 👀 Then, we discuss the Karmelo Anthony trial and tragic murder of teenager Austin Metcalf and the difficult questions America is facing this week surrounding justice, race, and accountability. As a former BLM activist turned MAGA conservative, Xaviaer shares his personal perspective on why these conversations matter to pursue truth without falling into the trap of tribalism. Even though some of these topics are heavy, I left this conversation feeling hopeful. Xaviaer always reminds me to pursue courage, conviction, and to stand up for your beliefs while still fighting for a better future. Do you think California is beyond redemption? Was the Karmelo Anthony sentencing a sign of justice, or injustice? Drop your thoughts in the comments 👇👇 Ep. 168 - - - Today's Sponsors: Olive - Listeners get an exclusive 7-day free trial.
