A Skeptic’s First Ghost Hunt | After Midnight

He had spent months teasing two coworkers about their paranormal investigations, convinced that most hauntings could be explained by bad wiring, strange acoustics, loose floorboards, or people expecting to experience something.

Then they invited him along.

At first, the night went exactly as he expected. He found ordinary explanations for doors opening, cold spots, strange sounds, and equipment reacting in empty rooms. Then footsteps crossed an upstairs hallway while everyone was accounted for.

Later, while he was alone packing equipment, a man spoke from the doorway behind him. He answered without even turning around. But nobody had been there.

And when they later reviewed the recorder running in the room, they heard his response. The voice he had answered was missing.
