Meshtastic Metrics Exporter outgrew Prometheus when a test against 10,000 nodes produced nearly half a million metric series. Instead of adding another specialized metrics database, creator Gleb Tcivie moved node data and telemetry into a single Postgres database running TimescaleDB. The result combines time-series history, node metadata, retention, compression, and Grafana dashboards in one stack, simplifying queries and eliminating the scrape-time bottleneck.
