Early Leafs Takeaways with Anthony Petrielli & Greg Wyshynski

Brent Gunning and Daniele Franceschi close out the week with Leafs Hot Stove's Anthony Petrielli. They break down his early impressions of the Leafs, Easton Cowan's hot start and potential role, the ideal top-six forward group, and how to best maximize Gavin McKenna. They also discuss Morgan Rielly and Darren Raddysh's defensive struggles, the LTIR placements of Max Domi and Dakota Joshua, the Leafs' cap flexibility, and whether a second-line centre or top-four defenceman should be the priority. Later, ESPN's Greg Wyshynski (28:33) joins the show to discuss the NHL's opening week, whether a shortened preseason is contributing to sloppy play, the Oilers under Mike Babcock, and Gary Bettman's comments on the growing number of no-movement clauses. They also explore how the next CBA could address the issue and whether teams can regain leverage in player negotiations.
