WOW: Ty Simpson to the Rams, Fernando Mendoza #1 Overall, Biggest Surprises

The latest episode of The Drake Toll Show on Westwood One Sports, guest-hosted by John Lund, centers on a transformative night for the Las Vegas Raiders. The discussion begins with the Raiders selecting Indiana quarterback and 2025 Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick. After leading the Hoosiers to a 16-0 national championship season, Mendoza enters a quarterback room featuring veteran Kirk Cousins. The broadcast debates whether the rookie should start immediately under new coach Klint Kubiak or develop behind the veteran signal-caller. The analysis expands to a broader review of the NFL Draft’s first-round winners and losers, including "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" segments with contributions from Addy and Curtis. Beyond the gridiron, the show pivots to the NBA Playoffs, examining whether the Oklahoma City Thunder have an "entertainment problem" despite their success. Updates on Victor Wembanyama’s concussion protocol also highlight the Spurs' upcoming clash with Portland. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
