Exclusive: Gavin Newsom Is Descended from Enslavers!

Dean Karayanis, New York Sun columnist and former Rush Limbaugh staffer, delivers a commentary on political discourse, historical context, and media coverage. Key topics in the episode include: World War II History and Debates: Addressing the recent clips of Tucker Carlson interviewing former UK Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg. He critiques historical revisionism and simplistic arguments regarding why nations fought in the World Wars, stressing the importance of evaluating historical decisions without relying on faulty hindsight. Economic Realities of Russia vs. the UK: Examining an exchange between Carlson and Rees-Mogg regarding economic scale, hightlighting factual distinctions in GDP versus physical size and criticizes the habit of shifting goalposts during debate. Media Distance and Journalistic Objectivity: Analyzing a clip of David Brooks on PBS NewsHour, taking issue with how mainstream journalists view their relationship with political parties and discusses how media business models shape political narratives. Energy, Litigation, and Middle Eastern Shipping: The episode examines ongoing climate lawsuits against energy companies, highlighting the preemption arguments ahead of Supreme Court considerations. Plus, recent statistics showing a return to normal tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, challenging predictions made by foreign policy commentators. Genealogy and Modern Political Rhetoric: Responding to California Governor Gavin Newsom’s recent executive actions forcing companies to investigate for “ties” to slavery so they can be “exposed,” named, and shamed. Dean shares personal ancestral research — never before uncovered — that the governor’s 4th great-grandfather, Thomas Hubbard Barham Sr. (1717–1784) of Sussex County, Virginia, enslaved at least five or ten people throughout his lifetime. When will Newsom start cutting black Americans a check for his participation in the slave trade?
