How To Train Your Dragon | Thanks for Nothing You Useless Reptile!

Jacob and Drew take flight with How to Train Your Dragon! They discuss Hiccup and Toothless’s unlikely friendship, the pressure of living up to a parent’s expectations, and why understanding dragons works better than fighting them. Along the way, they explore DreamWorks’ distribution history, the voice cast, dragons that behave suspiciously like cats, and an ending that gives its heroes lasting consequences. Before the review, they discuss Alita: Battle Angel, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Bao winning Oscars, and the Detective Pikachu trailer. Toothless earns the affectionate description “a cat with wings.” The hosts discuss Hiccup and Stoick’s strained relationship, with Gobber acting as a bridge between them. Astrid helps Hiccup recognize that compassion, rather than cowardice, stopped him from killing Toothless. The ending leaves Hiccup and Toothless relying on each other, giving their friendship a lasting physical parallel. Both hosts consider the film family-friendly, while noting that the final battle and injuries may frighten younger children. The next movie roll selects The Incredibles.
