Are You Taking Communion Unworthily? The Warning in 1 Corinthians 11 | Testing the Spirits

Are you taking communion unworthily? The Apostle Paul issued a serious warning in 1 Corinthians 11 about approaching the Lord's Table without examining ourselves. But what does that warning mean for Christians today? In this episode of Testing the Spirits, Bennett Tanton welcomes Laura Baker, author of Communion with the King, to explore the biblical meaning of communion, the Lord's Supper, repentance, forgiveness, and our relationship with Jesus Christ.Communion is more than eating bread and drinking from a cup. It is an opportunity to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, examine our hearts, and consider whether we are truly walking in fellowship with Him.In this episode, we discuss:

• What Jesus taught about the Bread of Life in John 6
• Paul's warning about taking communion unworthily in 1 Corinthians 11
• Why repentance and forgiveness matter before the Lord's Table
• The difference between religious ritual and genuine communion with Christ
• Bitterness, unforgiveness, pride, and division within the Body of Christ
• Spiritual nourishment, prayer, and gratitude
• The difference between conviction and condemnation
• Laura Baker's book, Communion with the King
• A closing prayer focused on repentance and forgiveness

Bennett also shares a reminder every Christian should consider:You can participate in communion without actually being in communion with Christ.Taking the bread and cup does not save us. Jesus Christ saves us. Communion should direct our hearts toward His sacrifice and call us to examine how we live before Him.SCRIPTURES DISCUSSED
