Ep. 455: WWII and Lincolnian Nationalism
June 6th, 2021 marked the 77th anniversary of Operation Overlord, better known as the D-Day invasion of Northern France during World War II. This was the beginning of another refounding of the United States. The men who stormed the beaches at Normandy that day or who died during the War didn't know it, but the political class had plans for a restructured America following the War, one based on a type of nationalism that Lincoln unleashed during the Civil War eighty years prior. I talk about this new America in this episode of The Brion McClanahan Show.
