Auburn’s Special Teams Overhaul: 2025 Breakout Stars Revealed

The Auburn Tigers are set to flip the script on special teams in 2025. After a disappointing showing in 2024, Auburn is reloading its special teams unit with experienced talent and emerging playmakers who could make all the difference this season. In this episode, we take a deep dive into every facet of Auburn’s special teams performance and expectations, from place kicking to returns. Starting with Alex McPherson, Auburn’s projected starting kicker, we discuss his return and what it means for Auburn’s scoring consistency. After missing most of last season due to illness, McPherson brings accuracy and leg strength that could be pivotal. Special teams woes were a major factor in Auburn’s 2024 losses, and McPherson’s comeback could flip two or more results this year. We also introduce Hudson Cock, the Aussie punter transfer from Oklahoma State, poised to make an impact with elite hang time and directional control. With him in the lineup, Auburn’s field position battle gets a significant upgrade. Kick return duties fall to Rayshad “Ran” Pleasant, a Tulane transfer with two kickoff return touchdowns under his belt. His ability to flip the field and break open plays makes him a dangerous weapon. Meanwhile, Malcolm Simmons takes over as punt returner and brings game-breaking potential, both as a return man and starting slot receiver. Whether it’s flipping the field, pinning opponents deep, or hitting clutch field goals, this year’s special teams unit is built for impact. Hear analysis, stats, and insights into how these changes can elevate Auburn to 8+ wins in 2025. The Vibe Vault: 3462 Crosswinds Rd, Suite E, Phenix City, AL.
