Game 7s galore on an incredible weekend of playoff hockey, James Mirtle on another Toronto Maple Leafs first round exit, Jeremy Rutherford previews St. Louis Blues-Colorado Avalanche, and much more

First, Ian and guest cohost Julian McKenzie talk about one of the best weekends of playoff hockey of all time, featuring five Game 7s, with both Sunday night games going to overtime, Jake Oettinger’s heroics in net for the Dallas Stars, the Tampa Bay Lightning winning their ninth consecutive series, the potential end of elite status for the Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals, and Pittsburgh Penguins, the upcoming Battles of Alberta and Florida, and much more.

Next, The Athletic’s James Mirtle joins the show to discuss yet another first round playoff exit for the Toronto Maple Leafs, this time losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning in seven games, the feeling around the team and city, Sheldon Keefe’s postgame comments about the handshake line, potential offseason changes, and more.

Then, The Athletic’s Jeremy Rutherford joins the show to discuss the St. Louis Blues-Colorado Avalanche second round matchup, lessons the Blues learned from last year’s sweep at the hands of the Avs, if Jordan Binnington or Ville Husso will play the bulk of the series in goal for St. Louis, and more.

Plus, Ian and Julian talk about the breaking news that Pete DeBoer has been fired as the head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights and that Lane Lambert has been hired as the head coach of the New York Islanders, and they close out the show with a couple of Multiple Choice Madness questions.
