January 10, 1997: The Entity - Dr. Barry Taff

Art Bell opens this episode by announcing remarkable ratings success, achieving number one rankings in both Los Angeles and San Diego. The overwhelming victories in these major Southern California markets demonstrate the program's growing influence and listener loyalty. Bell mentions struggling with illness but commits to delivering quality programming despite feeling under the weather. The main focus features a message from Ed Dames, currently conducting what he describes as "SciTech's most important project" in the Hawaiian Islands. Dames requests to break news about this mysterious project on Bell's show, scheduling an appearance for January 30th. The program builds anticipation for Dr. Barry Taff's discussion of "The Entity" case, the famous paranormal investigation that became a Hollywood movie starring Barbara Hershey. Taff served as principal investigator for this university-sponsored research into violent poltergeist phenomena affecting a California woman. The case produced extraordinary photographic evidence of plasma formations and unexplained energy manifestations that were documented by multiple witnesses and cameras. Bell strongly encourages listeners to view the authentic photographs on his website before Taff's appearance, describing them as essential viewing for understanding this remarkable case.
