US Open Day 9: Rybakina closes in on No.1, Coco cruises and Swiatek's shock defeat

Coco Gauff delivered a statement performance against Iva Jovic under the Arthur Ashe lights to reach the US Open quarter-finals. Join Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ for our US Open Day 9 catch-up as we debate what made Gauff so impressive in her 6-1, 6-4 win and whether she can kick on to pick up her second title at Flushing Meadows. Next up is Mirra Andreeva who holds a 0-5 record in their head-to-head. Can she buck the form book? Meanwhile, Qinwen Zheng somehow came back from 0-5 down AGAIN against Iga Swiatek. Is she set to do a full Emma Raducanu and win the title as a qualifier?

In the quest for World No. 1, Elena Rybakina produced arguably the performance of the tournament so far, dismantling Naomi Osaka to move one win away from the top of the rankings. Is Rybakina now the player to beat? We also discuss Iga’s worst Grand Slam season since 2019, Alexander Zverev’s growing title credentials, Belgian history-maker Alexander Blockx and Botic van de Zandschulp’s five-hour comeback.
