Serena Williams to play Wimbledon singles, Draper + Murray in action + Vondrousova ban!

The countdown to Wimbledon is well and truly on, and there is plenty to unpack from a dramatic week on the grass courts. We react to the stunning news that Serena Williams has been awarded a Wimbledon singles wildcard, discuss the mixed reaction to her return online, and debate who we would like her to face in a blockbuster first-round encounter (Osaka! Raducanu! Harmony Tan!).

On the ATP Tour, Francisco Cerundolo claimed the biggest title of his career at Queen’s Club, while Frances Tiafoe made history in Halle by becoming the first American champion in the tournament’s history. We also assess what their victories mean for the Wimbledon title race, and how likely could a first US men’s champion be since Andy Roddick at the 2003 US Open with Fritz, Shelton and Paul all in fine form.

Elsewhere, we discuss Jack Draper’s return to action with new coach Andy Murray by his side, Corentin Moutet’s expletive-laden controversial $40,000 fine at Queen’s, and the shocking four-year suspension handed to former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova. Did the punishments fit the crime? Plus, we preview the final week before SW19 with tournaments in Eastbourne, Bad Homburg and Mallorca.
