Nov 5 Refugees we are forced to support When our ancestors arrived at Ellis Island, no one met the ship with a benefits package. Our ancestors came with a trade, a skill, maybe a little cash, whatever they could carry, and a relative who could answer for them. There was no Medicaid, there was no food stamp office, people didn't have to pay taxes to bring them in and to establish them, and if they were likely to be something negative, we'd ship them back. The ones who stayed built our country....
