How can Harris be so close to winning?

Despite the Left-leaning bias in all but a few polls, I can’t figure out how Kamala Harris can be so close to Trump. She should be at 35-40%, not at 48-49%. Are there really that many Americans who will knowingly vote for a Marxist & Maoist? After all, a voter has four choices: don’t vote, vote for Trump, vote for Harris or vote for a third party candidate.
