April 9 Time to leave NATO For the past 60 years, I've wondered why NATO exists and why America was pouring so much money into the defense of Europe. I lived in Germany during the 1980s and there were military bases everywhere. In fact, the town of Kaiserslautern had the largest US population outside the US.
