EP 11: Mike Harrington, The Buffalo News

On this episode of the Moran-Alytics Podcast Patrick Moran interviews 30-year veteran Buffalo News sports journalist Mike Harrington. Mike, who has covered 18 World Series for the Buffalo News, is a member of the Buffalo Baseball Hall of Fame and a voter for the National Baseball Hall of Fame while also covering the Buffalo Sabres since 2007, pulls no punches on a variety of topics. Harrington discusses the losing culture of the Buffalo Sabres and how it has contaminated the locker room, analyze Ryan O’Reilly’s troubling confession earlier this week, says why Jack Eichel needs to be named captain immediately and offers his take on the negative ramifications of the “tanking” years that still linger today. There’s plenty of baseball talk as well, including a discussion on what is wrong with the Hall of Fame voting process and what Mike suggests would help fix it. The chat ends with a conversation about social media and the relationship between mainstream media and bloggers.
