The Flagship: Ole Miss can beat 'Bama, and Kiffin can ascend to a higher plane

In this edition of The Flagship, powered by College Corner, Ben Garrett and Zach Berry of the Ole Miss Spirit/On3 weigh the many implications of Saturday’s primetime showdown of Top 15 teams in Ole Miss and Alabama. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS.

The Crimson Tide has owned the Rebels in a series that dates back to 1894. Ole Miss has two all-time wins in Tuscaloosa.

But college football has evolved, and this isn’t your grandaddy’s Ole Miss football program. Sure, the Rebels are road underdogs, but they’re better-positioned than the Tide this season to make a potentially program-defining and real postseason run.

The Rebels will know their contender status after the next two weeks. After Alabama is No. 14 LSU.

Lane Kiffin has had a lot to say over his three-plus years as Ole Miss head coach. Time to deliver on the Big One.
