SatchVai - Summit Of The Guitar Gods
Joe Satriani and Steve Vai talk about their new collaborative album SatchVai “The Sea Of Emotion,” how decades of friendship and G3 tours finally led to recording music together, and what happens when two guitar legends with completely different styles share the spotlight! They go back to their high school days when Joe taught Steve how to play guitar, reveal what makes their signature sounds so different, and explain how they approach writing and trading solos. Steve shares stories about playing Edward Van Halen's music with David Lee Roth, the unexpected phone call he got from Eddie after leaving the band, and the unreleased recordings Eddie played for him at his house! Joe reveals why he nearly backed out of a proposed project with David Lee Roth and Alex Van Halen, and what it took to tackle Eddie's guitar parts on tour with Sammy Hagar. Plus, Steve remembers his wild audition for Frank Zappa and the lessons he learned from him, Joe reveals the surprising inspiration behind "Summer Song," and both share the guitarists inspiring them today, their favorite moments from the new SatchVai album, “The Sea Of Emotion,” and whether there's more music and touring in their future!
