David Duchovny on Music, Creativity, and Life’s Meaningful Moments | Buzz Knight

David Duchovny joins host Buzz Knight for an inspiring conversation about music, memory, and life’s meaningful moments. Known for his iconic roles in “The X-Files” and “Californication,” Duchovny is also a musician and poet — and in this episode, he opens up about his latest album, Prince of Pieces, exploring themes of love, loss, and resilience.

Buzz Knight and David Duchovny trace his earliest memories of music discovery, his first concert experience, and how those moments shaped his songwriting evolution since his debut album. The conversation moves through the creative process behind his music, his collaboration with longtime musical partners, and the importance of spontaneity in live performance. Duchovny reflects on the emotional difference between writing lyrics and writing poetry, and on the beauty of imperfection in a recording.

Toward the end, Duchovny shares personal stories about his father, weaving nostalgia into his artistic journey — a moving close to a wide-ranging conversation that touches on indie music, classic rock history, and the Nashville music scene along the way.

Anyone interested in the stories behind the songs will want to hear this David Duchovny interview — a conversation about legendary musicians, creative journeys, and the American music tradition, told the way only Buzz Knight can tell it.
