Raphaël Glucksmann, the man who wants to be French president
Raphaël Glucksmann has won the primary to represent the French centre-left in the upcoming presidential elections, securing 66% of the vote. He now faces the challenge of building support for the centre-left in a political landscape where the far right, led by Marine Le Pen, remains a major force.
Around 140,000 people took part in the contest to select a social democratic candidate, with party leader Olivier Faure finishing on 14 percent and Ségolène Royal, the former environment minister and 2007 presidential candidate, on 7 percent.
For more on Glucksmann's victory and his chances of uniting the left, we're joined by Renaud Foucart, senior lecturer at Lancaster University Management School.
