Torment & Terror: The Legend of the Bell Witch

Today on Tennessee Tales Tuesday, we're heading to Adams, Tennessee to explore one of the most famous and unsettling hauntings in American history—the legend of the Bell Witch. What began as strange noises on the Bell family farm in 1817 soon escalated into something far more disturbing, with unseen forces pulling hair, slapping family members, speaking in a disembodied voice, and allegedly tormenting patriarch John Bell until his death. We'll separate history from folklore, examine the real people behind the legend, and follow the chilling events that turned a quiet frontier farm into one of the most haunted places in America. Was it a ghost, a curse, a hoax, or something no one has ever fully explained? Join us as we uncover the story of the Bell Witch.
