The Curse of the Tequesta: Why the Miami Dolphins Can’t Win

In this episode of Southern Ghost Stories, host Allen Sircy merges football history with the paranormal to explore the "Curse of the Tequesta," a legendary hex believed to have haunted South Florida football for over four decades. After dominating the 1970s at the Orange Bowl with an undefeated season and back-to-back championships, the Miami Dolphins’ fortunes vanished following the 1985 groundbreaking of Joe Robbie Stadium (now Hard Rock Stadium), which unearthed and disturbed a centuries-old Native American burial ground. From the heartbreaking postseason collapses that denied Dan Marino a return to the Super Bowl to modern playoff miseries, Miami Hurricanes heartbreaks, and eerie parallels to New Orleans' Superdome, this episode investigates whether decades of frustration are just bad luck or lingering spiritual retribution from an ancient cemetery that should have been left in peace.
