Seances & Construction: The Winchester Mystery House

In this episode of Southern Ghost Stories, Allen Sircy steps inside the labyrinthine corridors of San Jose’s legendary Winchester Mystery House, where documented history collides with chilling folklore. Following the tragic loss of her infant daughter and husband William—heir to the vast Winchester rifle fortune—Sarah Winchester inherited unimaginable wealth stained by blood and tragedy. Legend says a medium warned her that the spirits killed by Winchester firearms had cursed her family, driving her to build an endless architectural maze of staircases to nowhere, blind doors, and rooms dominated by the number thirteen to confuse the dead. But was Sarah genuinely attempting to appease a legion of restless phantoms, or was she simply an eccentric, visionary recluse with unlimited resources? Tune in as we separate fact from myth in America's strangest Victorian mansion.
