From the Vault: Louisville's Lady in White

In this "From the Vault" episode, journey to Louisville, Kentucky’s historic Crescent Hill neighborhood to uncover the storied past of the Peterson-Dumesnil House. Built in 1869 as an elegant Italianate summer villa for wealthy tobacco merchant and Mexican-American War veteran Joseph Peterson, the grand estate survived Civil War trade disruptions, decades of transitions, and near ruin before being lovingly restored as a beloved community and event venue. But beneath its copper roof and timeless architecture lingers one of Louisville's most endearing spectral legends: "The Lady in White." Believed to be Peterson’s granddaughter, Carrie Peterson Lindburger—who passed away inside the home in her late twenties—this gentle spirit is frequently spotted gliding through the living room after weddings, and is even remembered in local lore for comforting lost neighborhood children from the villa's patio. Host Allen Sircy explores the rich history, enduring charm, and friendly hauntings of this Kentucky landmark.
