I Survived Raccoon City! | Universal Horror Unleashed Las Vegas

What happens when Halloween Horror Nights becomes a year-round experience? On this episode of Sigma Duocast, Rick heads to Las Vegas for his first visit to Universal Horror Unleashed at Area15—and the timing couldn’t have been better. It was the final weekend of the Resident Evil takeover. Rick breaks down the full experience, from exploring Raccoon City, solving interactive RPD puzzles, encountering Leon, Claire, Jill, Carlos, Nemesis, zombies and an incredibly convincing Licker, to surviving the T-Virus Trio at the Umbrella Café. He also takes on all four permanent haunted houses—Scarecrow: The Reaping, Universal Monsters, Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre—and explains why the permanent sets, controlled pacing and lack of the traditional “conga line” make Horror Unleashed feel completely different from Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood. Plus, after finding much of the Resident Evil merchandise sold out in Vegas, Rick shares how his brother’s trip to Universal Studios Japan turned into a Resident Evil merch mission—and why Japan’s approach to giving fans a fair shot at limited merchandise stood out. From the houses and scares to the food, drinks, merchandise and overall atmosphere, was Universal Horror Unleashed worth the trip? For Rick, the answer was an easy 10/10—and now he wants more.
