The Execution of Joe Arridy

I think this is one of the saddest and cruellest episodes we have ever done...

In 1939, 23-year-old Joe Arridy was executed in Colorado for a crime many believe he didn’t commit. With the mental capacity of a child, Joe was an easy target for investigators eager to close a brutal case. But how much of his so-called confession was his own—and how much was fed to him? In this episode, we explore Joe’s short life, the controversial trial that sealed his fate, and the lingering questions that still cast a shadow over his execution.
