She Was Only 12: The Murder of Nikki Conroy

It was an ordinary school day—until it wasn’t.

Twelve-year-old Nikki Conroy should have been safe within the walls of her classroom. Instead, a stranger walked in, armed with a knife and intent on violence.

What followed was a terrifying attack that left one child dead, several others traumatised, and an entire nation asking: how could this happen in a school?

In this episode, we unravel the chilling events of that March afternoon in 1994 at Hall Garth School in Middlesbrough. We look at the man who brought horror into a place of learning, the moment-by-moment chaos inside that classroom, and the devastating consequences of a system that failed to protect its most vulnerable.

Disturbing, emotional, and important—this is a story that will stay with you long after the episode ends.
