Why the Healed Man Betrayed Jesus: The Hidden Story

SCROLLS & SECRETS Bible History Podcast | New Testament History | Biblical History Explained A man waits 38 years for a miracle — then immediately turns his healer over to the authorities who want him dead. In this episode we dig into one of the most shocking and overlooked moments in John's Gospel: a healing at the Pool of Bethesda that ignites a full legal and political crisis. We unpack why this miracle took place at what may have been an ancient pagan water shrine, how carrying a mat on the Sabbath became a capital-level confrontation, and why Jesus responding 'my Father works, and I work' was not just theology — it was a direct assault on the entire power structure of Jerusalem. Backed by archaeological evidence confirming the pool's existence and layered Roman-Temple politics, this episode reveals the hidden courtroom drama running beneath every verse of John 5. Next episode: the tension explodes further as Jesus takes his case to an even larger and more hostile audience — and the stakes get impossibly higher. You will not want to miss it.
