1689: Of The Gospel

Humanity violated the Covenant of Works through Adam's sin and forfeited the reward of life. In response, God initiated the Covenant of Grace, promising Christ as the seed of the woman to redeem the elect and bring them back to himself. Preaching the gospel is necessary to call sinners to faith and repentance. Salvation is completed and applied to all who believe, entirely through Christ as revealed in God's Word.
