Who Are You, O Man?

From Rebuke on SermonAudio Various Speakers
In Romans 9:19-20, Paul anticipates the objection that if God has mercy on whom He wills and hardens whom He wills, how can He still find fault, since none can resist His will. Rather than offering a philosophical defense, Paul rebukes the questioner by stressing the Creator-creature distinction: "Who are you, O man, to answer back to God?" Drawing on Job, the potter-clay imagery, and the fallen hostility of the human heart, the sermon calls hearers to humble submission before God's sovereign right to show mercy or harden according to His purpose.
