Ep. - 593 - HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR JOE HESS HOLOCAUST DOCUMENTARIES TO WATCH

Joe Hess was six years old when he and his older sister Ilse last hugged their mother Frida before leaving on one of the last trains for children out of Nazi-occupied Germany. The British rescue operation known as the Kindertransport, saved the lives of over 10,000 Jewish and other children transporting them to Great Britain. These children were taken into foster homes and hostels in Britain, expecting eventually to be reunited with their parents. The majority of them never saw their families again. Joe tells his improbable story of reuniting with a relative after the war, and life lessons for younger generations. Kate provides a list of Holocaust documentaries including Night and Fog, One Survivor Remembers, 50 Children: The Rescue Mission of Mr. And Mrs. Kraus, and The U.S. and the Holocaust.
