A Voice in the Dark Said, “It Is Me” | After Midnight

Some haunted house stories start after someone dies. Hers started when she was four.

Her bed shook at night. The garage door slammed on its own. And from her room above the garage, she heard things moving when no one was awake. Then came the voice.

At eleven, the line between dream and reality shattered. A deep male voice called her name. Strange, intimate “dreams” began, with an unseen presence touching her, answering her questions, and refusing to show its face. Years later, after a long silence during pregnancy and motherhood, it returned — in her boyfriend’s bed, then in her childhood room, pressing her down, climbing onto the mattress, stroking her hair and whispering, “It is me.”

Is this an incubus, a sleep paralysis demon, or something far more personal?
This isn’t just a haunted house story. It’s the story of a presence that bonded with her… and refuses to let go.
