Sonam Bajwa on Pitt Siyapa - RJ Yash

She is the Queen of Pollywood — and she is back with her most daring film yet. In this special interview on Radio Haanji, RJ Yash sits down with Sonam Bajwa ahead of the release of Pitt Siyapa, the Punjabi comedy-drama that has all of Pollywood buzzing. The film, releasing worldwide on 1st May 2026, stars Sonam as Nimmi — a sharp, fearless woman who turns grief into a business by launching a professional virtual funeral service for NRIs who cannot return home to Punjab. In this conversation, Sonam opens up about what drew her to such an original concept, the emotional depth beneath the film’s laugh-out-loud humour, and her chemistry with co-star Paramvir Singh Cheema. She also reflects on her journey from Border 2 back to the intimate world of Punjabi cinema — and why stories like Pitt Siyapa matter deeply to diaspora audiences across Australia and Singapore. Three things you will take away from this episode: Why Sonam chose a female-led business comedy over conventional Pollywood roles How the film’s core idea connects powerfully with the NRI experience of loss and distance What Sonam Bajwa is really like when the cameras are not rolling Hosted by RJ Yash on Radio Haanji 1674 AM — Melbourne’s home for Punjabi community, music, and culture.
