The Legend of Flannel Man: Haunting or High Strangeness

Kick off November with tales of the mysterious Flannel Man—a plaid-wearing phantom spotted across the U.S. and beyond. Inspired by firsthand accounts from the Strange Familiars podcast, this episode unravels eerie sightings of a lumberjack-like figure. Most often described as a bearded man wearing a plaid flannel shirt (often red and black), blue jeans, and boots. He ranges from friendly-looking to downright eerie, with reports of glowing red eyes and sometimes sporting an axe. His appearance can leave witnesses uneasy, and though he may look like a regular person, he emanates a distinctly paranormal vibe.

Is Flannel Man a guardian, an omen, or just a ghostly visitor? What are his ties to the high strangeness occurrences in Point Pleasant, West Virginia in John Keel's The Mothman Prophecies? Join us as we explore these questions, and make some curious connections to Oregon's Paul Bunyan statues. Grab your best flannel and cozy in for some chilling tales and join the search for answers behind this fashionable lumberjack figure.
