The Arizona Diamondbacks could not complete the sweep on Wednesday, falling to the Kansas City Royals 5-2 in the series finale. Zac Gallen and Michael Soroka both returned to the mound, giving the D-backs some much-needed depth as they look to stabilize their starting rotation heading into the final stretch of the season. We have more on Soroka allowing the game-winning home run to Bobby Witt Jr., Gallen’s return, and why the bigger story may be what these two starts mean for Arizona’s pitching staff moving forward. The loss also drops the D-backs a half game behind the San Diego Padres for the final NL Wild Card spot. Plus, we break out another edition of The Blame Game and discuss whether the D-backs could turn to a Gallen/Soroka piggyback the next time through the rotation.
