The Arizona Diamondbacks let another winnable game slip away Friday night, falling to the St. Louis Cardinals after a string of costly mistakes. Merrill Kelly battled through five innings and allowed just one earned run despite shaky defense behind him, but an early error by Ketel Marte, a brutal baserunning blunder from Jorge Barrosa in the ninth, and another disastrous outing from Paul Sewald proved too much to overcome. It didn’t help that Arizona's offense went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position, wasting countless scoring opportunities in a frustrating loss.
