Mike Hazen Brings Back Torey Lovullo… But What Must Change for the D-backs in 2027?

The Arizona Diamondbacks are bringing back Torey Lovullo, and now we’re breaking down everything Lovullo and Mike Hazen had to say about that decision during Thursday’s press conference. Why does Hazen believe Lovullo is still the right manager to lead this team, and what does Lovullo need to prove heading into 2027? We also revisit the D-backs’ only trade at the deadline: the acquisition of Lars Nootbaar from the St. Louis Cardinals. Now that the player to be named later has officially been revealed, we break down the full deal, whether the D-backs gave up too much in Brian Curley, and whether Nootbaar can ultimately make the trade worth it. Plus, the Philadelphia Phillies are officially eliminated after the Atlanta Braves win the decisive Wild Card game, and we react accordingly to their early postseason exit. And while MLB attendance is up across the league in 2026, attendance at Chase Field is down from last season. Why is Arizona moving in the opposite direction?
