Intentional Breathing in the Machine World: Dave Busuttil Sac Estuary Plenary Session

In this plenary address from the Sacramento Estuary Conference at Living Stones CRC, Dave Busuttil presents *"Living in the Age of Intentional Breathing,"* exploring the constant tension between automatic habits ("running programs") and conscious human agency. Dave examines how decision fatigue, digital algorithms, and the illusion of infinite choice dominate modern life—and how intentional resets, local embodied practices, and grace allow us to reclaim real agency. Following his presentation, Pastor Paul Vander Klay, Tim Blackmon, Raj, and Jared Smith join Dave for a panel discussion and audience Q&A covering free will, the theology of breath (*Ruach*), Christ in Gethsemane, and breaking free from automatic routines. 00:00 Welcome & Introduction (Paul Vander Klay) 02:25 Plenary 2: "Living in the Age of Intentional Breathing" (Dave Busuttil) 02:40 Interactive Box Breathing Exercise03:02 Panic Attacks, Hyperventilation, & Learning to Breathe 07:15 The Greek Salad Metaphor: How Humans Run Automatic Programs 11:30 Algorithms, Covenants, & Choosing What Possesses You 16:15 Emo Music, E-Sports, & "Feeling Programs" 19:40 Maltese Pasta, Crabapple Jelly, & Local Embodied Practices 24:58 Panel Discussion: Predestination & Human Psychology 25:51 Favorite Protocols & Psychological Priming (Jared Smith) 27:56 "Arbitrary" Identity vs. Divine Authorship (Raj) 30:00 Creatureliness, Sovereignty, & Sam Harris on Free Will (Tim Blackmon) 35:35 Scriptural Theology of Breath: Ruach, Pneuma, & Gethsemane 55:51 Q&A: Early Church, Habits, & Opponent Processing (Neal Daedelus) 58:43 Mystical Connections & Marriage Choices (Sonny) 01:01:31 Free Will, Grace, & Christ's Choice in Gethsemane (John Van Donk) 01:06:17 Live Stream Q&A: Neuralink & The Mark of the Beast 01:07:51 Hoarding, Procrastination, & Unanalyzed Programs (David Jacobs) 01:10:21 The Parable of the Sheep & Goats as a Program (Calvin Friend) 01:13:51 Institutions, Possession, & Agency (Paul Allen) 01:16:22 Principalities, Powers, & Owning Your Actions (Grant Morris) 01:20:22 Wrap-Up & Closing Remarks (Paul Vander Klay) What is the TLC?
