King Charles vs Earl Spencer Over Diana: 'Gaslit by the King', Palace Breaks No-Books Rule, Harry Says Nothing, Kate with Tom Cruise

KING CHARLES, EARL SPENCER AND THE FIGHT OVER DIANA: 'GASLIT BY THE KING', A PALACE RULE BROKEN, AND HARRY'S SILENCE

Charles Spencer's memoir Swan Song: Diana, My Sister landed Tuesday, and Buckingham Palace broke its own rule against commenting on books to answer it — saying the King is mindful that fraternal grief can cloud reason and colour memory. Spencer's reply: it isn't every day you wake up gaslit by the King. Mark Francis unpacks the disputed quotes, why one courtier called it "recollections may vary" on steroids, Piers Morgan's legal action over a checkable error, Harry's conspicuous silence at his own awards, and the split-screen week that put William behind a popcorn till and Kate on a red carpet with Tom Cruise.
