Sounds of the Summer: Polishing the 'new' rules and what comes next? | Kevin McStay

Welcome back to Sounds of the Summer, as we look back on the biggest GAA stories of a sensational summer — and look ahead to what comes next for Gaelic football.

In this episode, Eoin Sheahan is joined by former Roscommon and Mayo manager Kevin McStay, now heading up the Gaelic football expert advisory group tasked with monitoring the impact of the Football Review Committee’s work.

McStay explains how the group is using match footage and data to “polish” the new rules, from the hooter/clock rollout and anomalies around scoring, to a possible four-point goal, a backcourt rule to curb lateral play, and what referee assistance could realistically look like without turning football into VAR.
