Todd Monken’s big questions: Jim Schwartz’s future and a murky Browns QB room

On this episode of the Orange and Brown Talk podcast, Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe break down the introductory press conference for new head coach Todd Monken and dive into the two biggest questions facing the Browns. First, they tackle the uncertain future of defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. After being passed over for the head coaching job, will he return? They discuss the potential for an “explosive situation” if a partnership is forced and whether Monken is equipped to handle the dynamic. With Schwartz’s options limited to returning or retiring, the hosts debate if the Browns should let him go or hold him to his contract. Then, the conversation shifts to the offense and the murky quarterback room Monken inherits. The hosts explore the possibility of Monken fixing Deshaun Watson and salvaging the controversial trade, noting the coach’s intrigue with the talented QB. They also discuss the supreme confidence of Shedeur Sanders and how Monken’s tough, old-school coaching style will create a new dynamic and a potential two-man competition for the starting job this offseason.
