(1/3) Elusive Justice: The story of Ricky Beard and Mary Leonard. Part 1 - Missing

An Ohio Mysteries/Akron Beacon Journal/Ohio.com crossover In the summer of 1979, 19-year-old Ricky Beard and 17-year-old Mary Leonard, teen sweethearts from Akron's North HIll neighborhood went on a date to a drive-in movie. They left early, telling friends they needed to be home in time for curfew. But Ricky and Mary are never seen by their loved ones again. For six years, police, private investigators, friends and family search for the couple, chasing down leads and following tips that ranged from Ricky and Mary being alive and well and living in another state, to having been murdered and buried near the banks of a river. Find photos, maps, timelines, links, videos and more at ohiomysteries.com and ohio.com. [email protected] Additional material available in the print edition of the Akron Beacon Journal on Aug. 24, 25 and 26, 2019. www.patreon.com/ohiomysteries www.twitter.com/mysteriesohio www.facebook.com/ohiomysteries Music (Licensed under Creative Commons.) Track: Wasteland Artist: Ross Bugden. https://youtu.be/5eAalHA1bAc Track: Woods Artist: Federico Fabbiano Music provided by Oak Studios https://youtu.be/eAiAlg22gqQ Track: Acoustic/Folk Instrumental Artist: Hyde Music promoted by Audio Library https://youtu.be/YKdXVnaHfo8 Track: Cinematic piano Artist: AShamaluevMusic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Sq5Y2HzF1c Track: Acoustic Guitar 1 Artist: Audionautix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apLWP1uLuz8 Learn more about your ad choices.
