Trump Says He Won't Attend Supreme Court Tariffs Hearing; Key Races to Watch in First Election of Trump's Second Term
The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments this week on whether President Donald Trump has overstepped federal law with his tariffs. Trump said it would be a “disaster” for the United States if the justices failed to overturn lower court rulings that found he went too far in using an emergency powers law to put his tariffs in place. But the president said he won't go to the Supreme Court to hear the arguments in person. Nov. 4 is the first major election day of Trump's second term. Heated races in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York City will test the popularity of Republicans—and the ideology of democratic socialism.
