The X-Files - After Dark
In 1993, Fox Television released a little Friday night show called ‘The X-Files’ that caught the attention of an audience curious about themes of extraterrestrial life, the paranormal, and government conspiracies. As word of the excellent writing and mysterious subplots got around, the show grew into a multi-decade franchise with its valiant protagonists - agents Mulder and Scully - battling against alien bounty hunters, mysterious forces within the government, and their own doubts about their mission and their supposed friends and colleagues. What made the show ultimately such a success is multifaceted, but one aspect that remained consistent was the dualism of the themes such as the believer versus the skeptic, the truth seeker versus the guardian, and the rebel versus the conformist.
